Penn Fencing
A cinematic feature for Penn Fencing, created as both a recruitment film and a brand expression for the program. The central challenge was visual: reveal the precision and intensity of a sport that often moves faster than a viewer can read.
Slow the action down without taking away its force.
High-speed imagery makes the blade work legible; directional light and dark backgrounds give the athletes a graphic, almost editorial presence. Campus material then places that intensity inside the larger Penn experience. I directed, shot, and edited the piece as one visual system rather than a conventional sports montage.
The result gives a less-televised program the same level of visual ambition normally reserved for marquee sports.
