SLAM Magazine — BTS Cover Shoot
Behind-the-scenes coverage of a SLAM Magazine cover shoot with Julius Randle and RJ Barrett. I worked alongside the editorial team to capture the movement, collaboration, and personality around the finished photographs.
The photographs are the outcome. The film is about everything happening between them.
A handheld, observational camera keeps the viewer inside the room without competing with the stills team. Setup, wardrobe, direction, athlete interaction, and shutter sound become the edit’s rhythm. The pacing borrows from SLAM’s editorial confidence while preserving the candid moments that make behind-the-scenes work valuable.
It is a simple case for embedded production: the most human material exists around the hero asset, and it has to be captured while the moment is happening.
